"Toerell has really come a long way. He is one of the few members of the football team who was a student at O. Perry Walker prior to Hurricane Katrina. He was the only in the 8th grade that year, but he was a handful. He ahs been through several traumatic events, which not only included Hurricane Katrina, but he suffered the loss of a brother. Things have not always been easy for "Toe" as he is affectionately called. A close friend of his on the football team was arrested last October for his role in a bank robbery. I think this really hit home for Toe, as the young man is still incarcerated to this day. I think this incident helped Toe to realize all that he has and motivated him to start taking advantage of those things. This past fall semester, Torrell earned a 3.00 GPA. Not only was he proud of himself, but I am so proud of him because he really worked hard and is motivated to continue to stay on the honor roll," writes his Academic Coach Sheryl Eaglin.
