Marquis’s Academic Coach Laurie Lazovick writes, "Marquis Hamm was always known as an athlete, but never as a student. In the last 2 months, Marquis has really turned things around. After accepting a full four-year scholarship offer to play football at Rutgers University, Marquis has really made some terrific changes. Marquis chose not to play varsity basketball in his senior year (he was a starter) so he could commit more time to his academics. Marquis does not just work hard in our one hour study hall after school he now stays until all of his work is correct and complete. He has become a model for our team. Just last week, Marquis said, "Doing all of my work feels so much better. I like coming to school now and I even feel smarter. I am more confident and I feel I can handle classes at the next level."
