"Joel is the perfect example of a young man who strives to better himself day after day. Joel was having trouble in the beginning of the school year in some classes and was given progress reports to monitor his behavior and schoolwork. Throughout the marking period he made sure to stay on top of having the progress reports filled out and worked closely with his Academic Coach in order to better his grades and behavior in class. His hard work paid off through determination and perseverance this was evident through his report high marks on his report card. Joel’s grades went up at least 5 points in every subject area, and in some case 10-25 points. He is truly a role model to other student-athletes in the Play It Smart program and will continue to better himself both on and off the field.
