"Play It Smart helps me get all my work done, be responsible for myself as a student, and start focusing to reach my goals. Concentrating on my education is a way to have a good life," says Jaerrod. "Known as "Laptop" by his teammates, Jaerrod is a veritable machine when it comes to academics. His skills in the classroom and his penchant for humor make him quite approachable. His teammates certainly aren’t afraid to approach him for help with math and science during study hall. Jaerrod is remarkably driven for a sophomore. He regularly attends study hall, and he recognizes that sometimes the best teachers are the ones who offer challenging work which takes student out of their academic comfort zone. In his first year at Park Center Senior High, he has earned above a 3.0 GPA and is well on his way to being the model for what it means to be a true scholar-athlete," writes his Academic Coach Carlee Tressel.
